Daylight launches supplier web connect

Date Posted: 1st January 2010

Supply chain optimisation specialist Daylight has unveiled Supplier Web Connect – a web based interface designed to complement its highly acclaimed core offering and give customers complete visibility over every aspect of their supply base.

Daylight believes that in a typical business the vast majority of direct material spend is accounted for by only a small amount of strategic suppliers. For these primary suppliers, deployment of the full Daylight system makes perfect sense as it inspires consideration of the total cost of items with a view to significant reductions. Further, by eliminating bad practice, supply chain management efficiency can be substantially increased.

For the remaining majority of suppliers, however, the full Daylight system may not be necessary due to lower levels of spend and therefore purchase order traffic. In these circumstances Supplier Web Connect is the perfect solution. The system facilitates complete supply chain activity transparency and understanding, with all partners integrated to the appropriate level to enable standardisation and consistency of supply behaviour.

Supplier Web Connect is also scalable, with the basic module being upgradeable to the more sophisticated version, Supplier Web Connect+. Daylight clearly believes the system will be of great use to a high number of businesses, and that now more than ever is the right time to be investing in developing a better supply chain. As managing director Tony Hardy explains:

“Companies doing business in volatile economies or trading environments need stable, robust processes to reduce costs and help them operate profitably. Knowing that combative relationships foster additional expense, our aim is always to help suppliers prosper while giving our clients the lowest possible cost of ownership.

“With these things in mind Supplier Web Connect has been developed to engage smaller suppliers with their customers in order to increase velocity, cut out unprofitable complexity, better manage their supply chains, and increase overall efficiency.

“In essence, the upgraded offering creates a transactional information exchange that enables perfect order measurement. We can show that this sort of process enrichment can create significant EBIT performance in a very short space of time, and who wouldn’t want that?”

Daylight systems empower manufacturers, retailers and distributors of all kinds to keep their supply chains aligned by accurately monitoring their own activity and that of each of their suppliers.

Daylight consultancy programmes and software systems are used to develop mutually beneficial relationships between customers and suppliers by increasing levels of collaboration and transparency, and speeding up cross business processes. The overall solutions supplied by Daylight aim to reduce lead times, reduce administration traffic, optimise stock positioning (therefore enabling cash liberation) and empower everyone in the supply chain to work more effectively.
